Aadhaar, India’s landmark Unique ID Project is attracting professionals from the country’s IT, digital and media industry: we’ve just received a note that Govindraj Ethiraj, the Editor-in-chief of business channel BloombergUTV is leaving the channel to join the UIDAI project. Ethiraj, a well known business journalist and technology columnist, was among the founders of UTVBloomberg (previously UTVi). He will remain with Bloomberg UTV till the end of September 2010.

MediaNama has learned that Sanjay Swamy, former CEO of mobile payments company MChek has already joined the UIDAI. Swamy had once written a UIDAI related column for us, asserting that the India’s Unique ID should be a SIM Card instead of a smart card. Things have since changed, and the Unique ID will be a number, with multiple delivery mechanisms. Swamy understands the pitfalls and promise of the mobile ecosystem better than many. He was with MChek for four years.

Sanjay Jain, previously Product Manager with Google at their Bangalore office, looking after Google News, Google Maps and Map Maker, has also joined the UIDAI as Product Manager. Jain was with Google for almost six years.
