705 - Implement `Aadhaar'' in transparent manner: AP Chief Secy told - IBN Live

Hyderabad, Oct 12 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah today directed Chief Secretary S V Prasad to ensure that the Unique Identification (UID) project is implemented in the state in a transparent manner. He was particular that Andhra Pradesh, which will be the first state to implement the ambitious plan in a big way, should be a role model for transparency and accountability in implementation of the scheme, an official release said here. Rosaiah, who was in Delhi, had a telephonic discussion over the progress of the scheme with the Chief Secretary. The Chief Secretary today reviewed the progress of the implementation of the 'Aadhaar' scheme with the Commissioner of Civil Supplies department Sanjay Jaju and other officials. Prasad directed Jaju to complete the tendering process in a most transparent manner and as per the decisions of the tender committee constituted by the State Government. Aadhaar is aimed at establishing the identity of every resident in the country and provide secured access to services /benefits offered by the government. The Commissioner of Civil Supplies is the Registrar for the first phase to be implemented in seven AP districts: East Godavari, Srikakulam, Adilabad, Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Chittoor and Anantapur.
