1100 - Aadhaar - Update

Aadhar update:

* Getting Aadhar number allotted is a three stage process. First, you come to the center, take the application and go home. Second you fill the form and bring it to submit it to the center with photocopies of id proof and address proof. Then, third, you come again on the date on which you have the appointment for collection of biometric data. People who do not know this, are coming to the center and standing in line for hours without any clarity. (Now these forms are also supposed to be available in Fair Price shops and online from www.aadhaar.up.in

* The form can accommodate only four names. If you have more family members, then you make a photocopy of the form and fill in the additional names and attach it to the first form.

* There are supposed to be 112 main centers and 580 sub centers in Hyderabad. But only 400 were actually set up. Only 286 are working. Nearly 45000 people are using these centers daily. Up to now, 350000 people have been given aadhaar numbers.

* Ten people queue up at each aadhaar kit. as all the details of the entire family have to be taken, people are having to wait for hours. there are no chairs and drinking water facilities causing severe inconvenience to women, children and the aged.

* The entire process can take up to 45 days. However, if you pay 200 rupees to a broker, it can be completed in one day. Application form can be delivered at home if you pay 50 rupees. Application form will be filled up for you if you pay 20 rupees.
