2171 - Hizbul terrorist held after 19 yrs - Deccan Chronicle

Mohammed Najeeb Ahmed, suspected of being a member of terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen, who has evaded the police for the past 19 years, was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of city police on Monday. Najeeb, alias Moha-mmed Sikander Ali, is wanted for the murder of intelligence additional SP G. Krishna Prasad and his gunman G. Venkateswara Rao in Toli Chowki in 1992.

His brother, Hizbul commander Mohammed Mujeeb Ahmed, is in Ajmer jail in Rajasthan for the same crime, but Najeeb evaded arrest by changing residences regularly. The CCS deputy commissioner of police, Mr J. Satyanarayana said, “Apart from changing his place of residence Najeeb also changed his name from time to time.

After the murder of Krishna Prasad he shifted his residence to West Bengal and stayed there for about a year and got married. He did not visit the city even for the funeral of his daughter Farheen.

Later, he came to Hyderabad and started working as a sub-travel agent. He duped a woman of Rs 30,000 by promising to get her husband a visa for Saudi Arabia, but failed to do so.”

Despite being on the most wanted list, Najeeb had obtained a voter ID card, ration card and even an Aadhaar card using fake documents in the name of Mohammed Sikander Ali, son of Mehboob Ali, with an address in Ghousenagar in Bandlaguda of Chandrayanagutta

In Hyderabad, too, he changed his residences frequently. Acting on a tip-off, SIT teams led by ACP Mr A. Srinivas Reddy nabbed Najeeb at Bandlaguda. He was produced in court and remanded to judicial custody.
