PANAJI: Consumer rights organisation Goacan has expressed concern over LPG consumers experiencing panic and anxiety over the February 15 deadline to link Aadhaar cards to the LPG connections.

In a letter to the state director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Goacan coordinator Roland Martins has highlighted that the consumers are under the impression that LPG cylinder refills will be sold at the non-subsidised rate of 959 from February 15 in North Goa and the subsidy will be then transferred to the bank accounts of the LPG Consumers who have aadhaar cards.

Martins said the government of India has clearly stated that all LPG consumers are now entitled to 9 cylinder refills in a financial year and therefore for the balance of financial year 2012-13 ending March 31 consumers are entitled to two more subsidized cylinder refills making it a total of five cylinder refills (from September 15, 2012 to March 31, 2013) irrespective of the Aadhaar cards.
