3159 - NPR enrolment takes care of Aadhaar: JC

SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT

Joint Collector K. Kannababu has said the enrolment under National Population Register (NPR) preparation takes care of Aadhaar too. The families need not subject themselves to Aadhaar enrolment if they fulfil NPR enrolment.

According to him, NPR enrolment was more comprehensive and final. However, those who completed Aadhaar enrolment in the past could also attend the NPR enrolment but without the need to go through the lengthy process of photographing of fingerprints and iris.

The reference to previous Aadhaar enrolment would help import the individual data. Even if the persons fail to refer to previous enrolment and get enrolled afresh, the data base crosschecks and links both.

Mr. Kannababu said all those families who were enrolled manually in the 2010 census would be given intimation for enrolment for NPR as per the schedule. A mopping exercise would be undertaken for the families not enrolled in 2010 at the end of the current round of NPR registration.

He said Kurnool district was one of the places selected for NPR in the pilot project and asked the people to make use of the opportunity. He said the permanent enrolment centres would continue even after winding up of the current exercise.

According to him, enrolment of 23 lakh persons was completed in rural areas of the district as against the total of 28 lakh. The data of 20 lakh persons was uploaded and the cards were issued for nine lakh individuals. In urban areas, 70 per cent of enrolment was complete.

He said updating of software version contributed to delay as the revised programme required more processing time. As result, the schedules given to families earlier were paralysed.
