Mumbai: In a shocker, as many as 1,000 Aadhaar forms were found lying in the cupboard of a housing welfare society office in Jogeshwari (west) in Mumbai, said reports. What is more shocking is the fact that the forms were collected almost two years ago, when an Aadhaar camp was organised by the Jogeshwari housing society in 2011.
Misuse threat looms large
Many applicants have received their Aadhaar cards after enrolling during the Aadhar camp. However, the cupboard accommodates 1,000 Aadhaar forms along with compulsory documents like PAN cards, bank account details, and proof of identity.
It was learnt that the enrollment agency in-charge was contacted several times to collect the documents. However, nobody from the agency turned up. An officer said that there is a large possibility that the documents and identity proofs of the resident could get misused, while adding that they do not know whether to keep waiting for the enrollment agency in-charge or to return them to the applicants.
What officials have to say?
Reportedly, Santosh Bhogle, state nodal officer condemned the state of neglect in which the Aadhaar enrollment forms were found and said that the agency responsible for the collection of data should have returned them back to the residents.
