The state government will  approach the central government again to request it to extend the deadline for enrolment of Aadhaar cards up to June or July this year.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Tuesday, minister for civil supplies D Sridhar Babu said the central government extended the deadline as the subsidy on domestic cooking gas cylinders was linked to Aadhaar cards till April 15 in the state. The extension was given following a request made by chief minister N Kiran Kunar Reddy. The previous deadline was March 15.
But the Aadhaar enrolment in rural and urban areas cannot be completed before April 15. As Cash Transfer Scheme (CTS) is linked to Aadhaar cards and enrolment requires another three to more months so that the CTS can be extended to the beneficiaries directly into the bank accounts, he said.

He said the state government would seek more time from the Centre for issuing Aadhaar cards, considering CTS is linked to Aadhaar. ‘’The state government will write letters to the Union ministers concerned explaining the facts and hope the central government will take a positive decision and extend the deadline for enrolment for Aadhaar cards till July this year so that all the beneficiaries can be covered,’’ he said.
