3309 - Aadhaar seeding shortly - Deccan Chronicle

DC | 07th May 2013

Anantapur: In-charge collector S. Satyanaryana directed officials to speed up the seeding process of UIDAI numbers with the connecting banks and agencies to implement the cash transfer scheme from May 15 in the district.
Anantapur district was listed for implementation of the programme in the first list. But, poor enrolment for Aadhaar cards was delaying the implementation process since three months and authorities have postponed the cash transfer scheme many times.
However, the authorities are firm on implementing the cash transfer scheme to LPG consumers, scholarships and other schemes listed in the first list from May 15.
During a review meeting, the in-charge collector observed that enrolment for Aadhaar cards was poor even though time was extended several times in the pilot district.
Satyanarayana asked civil supplies deputy tahsildars to concentrate on completing the seeding of UID numbers with related offices, agencies and banks. Sources said that nearly 40 per cent of LPG consumers are yet to furnish details of Aadhaar and bank accounts with agencies and banks where they had SB accounts. The in-charge collector directed officials to send a progress report every day to the DSO over the seeding of Aadhaar numbers in the district.
Meanwhile, the district authorities have resolved to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of former president Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, who hailed from Illuru village in Garladinne mandal in Anantapur district, on May 19. The in-charge collector directed the revenue and other officials to make elaborate arrangements to celebrate 100th birth anniversary of former president.
In addition, Satyanarayana directed animal husbandry officials to speed up arrangements to set up fodder supply centres in the district. About six fodder supply centres are proposed to supply fodder for milch animals in the wake of severe drought.
