When the UPA and most of the state governments are trying to push the Aadhaar project, the opposition to it is also becoming strong.
Aniwar Aravind, an IT activist, says that the entire project masks a huge financial scam. Pointing to a number of exposes at the national level, he said that the project is a tool to implement neo-liberal economic reforms in the country.
“The chief officials of the project say that it is a project to include the poor. But in reality, it is a project to exclude them,” he said.
He also said that the project officials are propagating a lie that Aadhaar card is necessary for accessing welfare benefits. “The government has formally said that it is not mandatory.
The project does not have any legal validity. The strategy of the government is to implement the project through surreptitious ways,” he said.
