The Ernakulam District Residents Association Apex Council has demanded that the government should extend the time of implementation of the Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme as most of the residents are yet to receive the Aadhaar cards. As per the new rule, consumers will not be entitled to subsidy for gas cylinders unless they furnish the details of their Aadhaar cards.

Also it emphasised the difficulty the consumers are currently undergoing in receiving gas connections as well as the cylinders at subsidised rates.
EDRAAC representatives have welcomed the steps undertaken by the district administration in reviewing the maintenance of the roads. The unscientific opening up of the roads by various departments is a major reason why the roads in the city are damaged, they said. EDRAAC has also demanded the setting up of local committees to monitor such issues. Local bodies along with the entrepreneurs should be made representatives in the committee, they demanded. Whenever such damages are reported, these committees should be called and they should also be part of the meetings called by the agencies. The district collector should take this into account, EDRAAC has urged.

At the meeting,  it has been decided to conduct seminars on the developmental issues as part of the tenth anniversary of formation of EDRAAC.
