VISAKHAPATNAM: Three persons were arrested for allegedly stealing an Aadhar card and ATM card and withdrawing cash in the city on Tuesday. The accused, identified as B Prasad (20), K Sagar (24) and A Hemanth Kumar (22), belong to a dance troupe and were residents of Kancharapalem. DCP (law and order) P Viswa Prasad told mediapersons that a cyber crime team arrested the trio and recovered the cards and Rs 13,000 in cash. The theft occurred when Bima Rani Patnaik of Kanchili Mandal in Srikakulam district visited KGH on July 20 for treatment and found the cards missing. from her ATM card and daughter's Aadhar card had gone missing from her handbag.
Later, she found Rs 14,517 had been withdrawn from her bank account following which she lodged a complaint.
Following this she contacted the One Town police station and lodged a complaint. Based on the CCTV footage of the ATM near KGH, the police found that the trio had withdrawn the money by using the ATM pin written on the pouch of the card.
