PUNE: District collector Vikas Deshmukh on Tuesday said the administration was planning to set up Aadhaar counters near gas agencies to increase enrolment.
The state government is planning to roll out the Aadhaar-linked direct benefit transfer scheme for LPG subsidy in Pune from October.
The administration will also meet representatives of food grain distribution offices, gas agencies and oil companies to discuss how to implement the benefit, he said.
"The scheme will be rolled out from October. We are waiting for directives from the state government about its implementation," Deshmukh said.
According to preliminary estimates, not all LPG customers in the city have linked their Aadhaar numbers with their gas connections and bank accounts. There are customers who have got their Aadhaar cards but have not yet provided the details to the oil companies. Such customers must submit these details at the earliest, he said.
The collector said that the administration was planning to set up counters near offices of gas distributors/agencies for those customers who still have not enrolled for Aadhaar.
The administration is waiting for details about how many LPG customers have linked their Aadhaar numbers with their gas connections, Deshmukh added.
