Police on Saturday arrested four persons in connection with illegal preparation of Aadhaar cards in JSPL plant area here.
According to IIC of Nisha police station Bhabani Sankar Udgata, the four persons of a computer lab, which has been assigned to prepare Aadhaar cards by Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), used to sell the cards in the area for several weeks. They neither followed the rules of enumeration nor took permission of the local Tehsildar who is the in-charge officer of census.
While Aadhaar cards are processed in government schools with the help of teachers free of cost, these persons were doing it by charging Rs 200 for each card. They also prepared the cards for those whose names do not figure in census list.
While they were preparing cards of JSPL employees last week, one of them had doubt over collection of money and informed Census department which sent a team to inquire. The department officials inspected the place and detected the illegal act. They informed the police who arrested all four belonging to Bhadrak district.
A FIR has also been filed on behalf of JSPL with Nisha police. The arrested are Gourhari Jena, Nagendra Kumar Bal, Pradip Kumar Samal and Binay Kumar Barik.
