MARGAO: With the deadline of November 30 to avail the direct transfer benefit (DTB) scheme for transferring subsidies to South Goa consumers' bank accounts being hardly 75 days away, only 26% Aadhaar numbers of beneficiaries have been linked with their bank accounts in the district.

Addressing mediapersons on Monday, district collector N D Agrawal said that he has instructed LPG agencies to take immediate steps to ensure that the consumers are not inconvenienced. At a meeting of the LPG agencies convened by him earlier, Agrawal offered to provide some space for the agencies to generate e-aadhar for their consumers so as to link them with their bank accounts.

"While 46 percent of the consumers have submitted their Aadhaar numbers to their gas agencies, only 26 percent of them have been seeded to their bank accounts. As most consumers have not got their Aadhaar numbers, though they have enrolled themselves for the same, it is essential that an e-Aadhaar number is generated based on the acknowledgement slip numbers given at the time of enrollment. The LPG agencies are required to generate e-aadhaar to facilitate the process for their consumers. In order to expedite the process, some space will be provided to the gas agencies at the South Goa collectorate to carry out the work," Agrawal said.

Self-attested copies of bank passbook and Aadhar card has to be given to the bank, and copies of LPG consumer booklet and Aadhar card need to be given to the LPG agencies, he said. "Copies of the documents to be given to banks can be dropped in the drop-boxes provided at all LPG agencies," Agrawal said.
