BELGAUM: Over 50 per cent of Aaadhar enrollment has been completed in Belgaum district. According to sources in the DC office, 28 lakh people have already enrolled of the total 49 lakh population. Percentage of enrollment in urban areas is more. Around 4.88 lakh people have enrolled in Belgaum city against the total population of 4.90 lakh.
Speaking to TOI, Sharath Pawar, district manager of Hyderabad based Origin ITFS company, one of the four companies contracted to enrol people for Aadhaar, said more than 80% enrollment of Belgaum residents has been completed. The company had opened over 15 Aadhaar enrollment centres across the city. Following the reduced rush at the centres, many were shifted to rural areas. Presently, Aadhaar registration in the city is only at three centres- Kalamandir at Tilawadi, Home Guards office in Sadashiv Nagar and Chavat Galli.
