MYSORE: Even as confusion prevails over the status of Aadhaar, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has utilized Dasara as a platform to tell people that Aadhaar is mandatory for various government services.

The Supreme Court, in its interim order, had said that Aadhaar is not mandatory for government services. Petroleum minister Veerappa Moily also said Aadhaar won't be mandatory for LPG subsidy till further order from SC.

On Monday, the carnival float of UIDAI conveyed to thousands of Dasara visitors that that Aadhaar is mandatory. The tableau carried information on procession of registration of Aadhaar and it is necessary for banking, LPG connections, mobile connections, health card, railway travelling and for ration card.
