It seems that two months will not be enough for the LPG customers in the state to link their aadhaar number with gas connection and bank account. In order to availing the subsidy through bank,a consumer has to link the account with both the gas agency and the bank. But as per the latest available data, over one lakh consumers in the state have linked their aadhaar number only with the gas agency and not with the bank.
Besides, the authorities face the dilemma of fake LPG connections as some people are not willing to disclose their aadhaar details.

As per sources, all these factors are going to worsen the scenario in the coming days. “In order to get the subsidy, one has to link the aadhaar details with the gas agency and the bank. Unfortunately, only 15-20 percent have linked their aadhaar details with the gas agency and the bank. The rest are not eligible to get the subsidy,” said K R Jayaprakash, Ernakulam Lead Bank district manager.

Idukki (46.7%) and Thiruvananthapuram (49.74%) districts have the lower percentage of original beneficiaries who are eligible to get the subsidy. Out of the 2.37 lakh LPG consumers in Idukki, only 1.10 lakh have linked their aadhaar card with bank account but 1.37 lakh have given their aadhaar number to the gas agencies. On an average, the ‘real-eligible’ customers in the state is just above 50 percent, sources said.
