Didn't misuse UIDAI post: Nilekani India Blooms News Service (IBNS) New Delhi, Mar 17 (IBNS) Former Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) chairman Nandan Nilekani, who will be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha polls for the ruling Congress, has said he did not misuse his post for political ambitions. "I took a decision to enter politics only about eight months back and when I did the Aadhaar project I did it to make sure that everybody in India had an ID. Now I am standing for election, so I don't think any of this is consequential," Nilekani told CNN-IBN. The Infosys co-founder resigned as UIDAI chief on Mar 13. He said he will be serving people of the country by participating in politics. "Mission accomplished! Delivered 60cr #Aadhaar numbers on time. Grateful to the PM for giving me an opportunity to serve the people of #India," he tweeted on Mar 13. "As one chapter ends, another 1 begins. I'll continue to serve the people of #India by participating in politics, the biggest lever of change," he said. Nilekani formally joined the Congress party on Mar 9. Even before joining, he had bagged the Lok Sabha polls ticket and would contest the election from Bangalore South against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Ananth Kumar. His name featured in Congress's first list of candidates.
