TAKING STOCK OF TELANGANA
In four to five months, there's likely to be a new state, India's 29th: Telangana. It will comprise 10 districts, and will share its capital with erstwhile Andhra Pradesh's - Hyderabad - for 10 years. So, what would it mean to live in Telangana? Would you feel like you're in Kerala (which is doing really well) or in Bihar (which is not)? Where would it stand? Read on.
Literacy
About 80% of Telangana has a lower literacy rate than the national average.

In their 2010 report on the viability of a separate Telangana, Justice B.N. Srikrishna and his colleagues wrote that “it is a fact that most of the economic and developmental parameters show that Telangana (excluding Hyderabad) is either on par with or a shade lower than coastal Andhra; but once Hyderabad is included, the situation in Telangana is far better.” This has shown to be the case. And in such circumstances, a state will come to life soon, with much work left to do.
