VISAKHAPATNAM: District joint collector Praveen Kumar directed the city gas dealers to speed up the process of Aadhaar linkage to gas connections and to complete the process by August 23. He also suggested them to stop the bookings on August 23 and finish the linkage process.

Speaking at a meeting held with all the gas dealers in the city Wednesday, Praveen Kumar warned the dealers of strict action if the work is not finished on time.

In the meet, Praveen Kumar said that it is compulsory for all the individuals to link government schemes to the Aadhaar card for their own benefit. He also mentioned that only 45 per cent of gas connections have been linked to their respective Aadhar cards till date in the district.

In order to weed out subsidised LPG gas cylinders, the government has made Aadhaar linkage mandatory. All the LPG dealers must take special attention to link up the Aadhaar card number to their consumers.

In the process, the gas dealers will allot new gas delivery boys, who would take the responsibility of collecting copies of Aadhar cards from houses and submit it to the authorities for linking. Awareness programmes were also decided to be held by the officials to educate people on the benefits of Aadhaar linkage.

District civil supply officer A Krishna Rao, assistant civil supply officers Surya Prakash Rao and Siva Prasad and other officials were present.
