HYDERABAD: In order to weed out fake beneficiaries, the state government has made it mandatory to have Aadhaar card to avail pensions and benefits under the newly proposed food security cards.

Principal secretary to government, Panchayat Raj department, Raymond Peter held a video conference with district collectors and tehsildhars on Thursday to apprise them about steps to be taken in implementing the welfare schemes.

Although, the guidelines pertaining to implementation of these schemes were expected to be out by Thursday, the government is yet to zero in on them.

However, those who intend to avail these services can apply for the same before October 15. Applicants must provide their unique identification number.

The government has decided to open special counters to enable people to apply for Aadhaar Cards.

The verification of applications for pension scheme is entrusted with that of gram panchayat secretaries and MPDOs and  MROs, deputy MROs and revenue inspectors would scrutinise the applications for food security cards. It is learnt that the government is mulling over restricting the old age pension to only one person in the family.
