Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president N. Raghuveera Reddy and former Union Minister Kotla Jayasuryaprakasa Reddy launched a membership enrolment drive here on Friday. DCC president B.Y. Ramaiah, Kotla Sujathamma and others were present.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Raghuveera Reddy accused the government of failing to deliver the promises it made to people on the eve of elections. He said Mr. Naidu was promising capital in Vijayawada and smart city in Kurnool and something else in other city. He also criticised the BJP government for projecting Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel after coming to power while it had ignored conveniently in the past.
He said the Congress government was criticised when Aadhaar was introduced but now everyone was after it including Mr. Naidu who wanted to link Aadhaar to every scheme.
Mr. Reddy said the Congress would fight the misdeeds of the Centre and State governments and try to regain the confidence of the public. Mr. Jayasuryprakasa Reddy criticised the TDP leaders in Kurnool district for encouraging lawlessness and extortions. He alleged that false cases were framed against Congress leaders in order to demoralise them.
Mr. Raghuveera Reddy offered membership first to Mr. Suryaprakasa Reddy and others.
