The much-awaited list of eligible beneficiaries under the farm loan waiver scheme of the government is likely to be hosted on its official website in a day or two.
The verification process initiated by the government had revealed the existence of over 80 lakh bank accounts held by farmers in various banks. Of these, 49 lakh had been proved eligible for loan waiver, while five lakh were found ineligible.
The government is, however, reported to be facing problems in the case of 15 lakh farmers who were not in possession of Aadhaar or ration cards. This is in addition to another seven lakh farmers who have only ration cards issued on their names and not Aadhaar cards.
Sources in the Agriculture Department said that the Village Revenue Officers had been entrusted with the responsibility of checking the genuineness of these farmers and the process was underway.
