MADURAI: Madurai Mayor V V Rajan Chellappa on Monday inaugurated a permanent centre to issue Aadhaar cards in zone 4 of the city corporation.
The mayor said 78 % of the residents got Aadhaar numbers while the remaining 22 % were yet to be enrolled in the scheme.
He said permanent centres would be opened in all corporation zones.
He said the corporation would conduct a five-day campaign in all zonal offices for Aadhaar enrollment.
Permanent Aadhaar centres would be set up in all major town panchayats annexed with the corporation, he added.
Corporation Commissioner C Kathiravan was present during the inauguration.
