In a new Aadhaar-linked facility, the Maharashtra government has developed an online repository for important documents like certificates, degrees, etc which are frequently required to apply for a job and other services.
The 'Maha Digital Locker' will end the hassle of having to physically carry important documents like education and property certificates. So, when you apply for a service, the agency concerned will verify these documents, stored on a government cloud, and the task will be completed, without the trouble of record-keeping or getting photo copies, attestations and affidavits.
The facility is available to anyone who has an Aadhaar card.
Users can use the e-locker facility by logging in on to elocker.Maharashtra.Gov.In. The Aadhaar number will be the key to open the account.

Users can then upload and save scanned copies of all important documents and retrieve them whenever required. All documents will be protected by a One Time Password (OTP) that will be sent to the user's mobile phone every time he tries to log in with his Aadhar number.
Uploading certificates like those related to birth, marriage, income and caste certificates on the e-locker will ensure that there is no need to carry them in physical format when they are needed for educational or job purposes Whenever a person applies for a document or a certificate at any SETU (project) office, a copy of it will be uploaded by the Gram Panchayat, Tehsil or collectorate office.
"Our state has done a lot of progress in e-governance and even the central government has praised us for our revolutionary work in the IT field. Even this new programme of ours has earned the appreciation of the Union government," said Director of IT department of the State Secretariat, Virendra Singh.
"We will also get employers signing up with us so that they can directly access their candidate's documents from us. But this will all be very secured. No third person can get access to a particular person's personal information," Singh said.
