Meanwhile the other political parties flayed the government over several aspects of the loan waiver scheme.
As many as 3.77 lakh of the total 7.06 lakh peasants in Prakasam district have to wait patiently for some more time as the much publicised loan waiver scheme will cover only over 3.29 lakh farmers in the first phase of its implementation.
As many as 3,29,167 lakh ryots whose Aadhaar and ration card details have been accepted by the central server will now be credited with Rs. 376 crore in the first phase, district officials have said. On the eve of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to the district for an interaction with ryots at Kondepi, Collector G.S.R.K.R. Vijay Kumar said: “We have uploaded the details of 50,000 farmers who are not covered so far.”
“The details of over 1.8 lakh farmers could not be updated as their Aadhaar and ration card details do not tally,” Lead Bank District Manager Narasimha Rao explained.
Allaying fears of farmers, the Collector said that grievance redress mechanism put in place by the government would ensure coverage of all eligible farmers under the scheme. “All issues will be sorted out at mandal, divisional and district levels by the committees concerned,” he added.
Meanwhile, taking up cudgels for tenant farmers, Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham district secretary D. Gopinath said only 6,000 tenant farmers of the total 1.5 lakh in the district could access institutional credit and a meagre 500 beneficiaries were included in the first list of beneficiaries of loan waiver.
Meanwhile the other political parties flayed the government over several aspects of the loan waiver scheme. BJP ryots wing State Secretary Raavi Venkateswarulu pressed for loan waiver sans condition for tenant farmers on the lines of ryots with loan amount up to Rs 50,000. “Given the uncertainty, farmers are running from pillar to post to get only no response from bankers and officials,” lamented YSRC farmers wing District president Mareddy Subba Reddy. “It’s not fair to insist on unrealistic scale of finance for implementation of loan waiver scheme,” All India Kisan Sabha district secretary V. Hanuma Reddy felt.
