PANAJI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) busted a gang forging Aadhar cards, election cards and rubber stamps of central and state governments, indicating a major racket that had gone unnoticed by the state authorities so far.

CBI sleuths on Thursday raided a cyber cafe and rubber-stamp making shop in Vasco. During the day-long exercise, CBI seized six computers from Sheikh Cyber Cafe and two computers from City Stamp Makers. CBI officers told TOI that they have found large number of forged soft copies of Aadhar cards, election card and rubber stamps of government department in the computers of both the shops.

CBI said that the entire racket came to a light when they raided the house of Vasco railway station staff following a complaint that Faiyaz Mulali had allegedly issued a forged receipt on the payment of 15,000.

CBI said that Mulali, a staff of South Central Railway and attached to Vasco railways station, asked the complainant to pay 15,000 as security bond when he went to collect his parcel without the original receipt.

When the complainant went to submit his original parcel receipt to collect his security bond, Mulali was transferred from Goa and the railway officials there told the complainant that this receipt was not issued by railways.

Later, the complainant approached the CBI, who raided the Mulali's house at Vasco and found some forged documents in his house which were prepared at the cyber cafe.

CBI sources said that this matter was reported to Goa police, but they did not take any action in the case.
