7142 - Education Department Seeks Aadhaar Information of School Kids - Indian Express

COIMBATORE: The School Education Department has asked headmasters of all schools to collect and submit Aadhaar card details of students, besides advising them to make arrangements for holding special Aadhaar registration camps for students, who were yet to get it. 

The Department of School Education under the Educational Management Information System (EMIS) collected the details of all the schools, students and teachers for the academic year 2012-13. The collected details were uploaded on the portal of the EMIS.
Recently the updating process for the academic year 2014-15 commenced and details in 12 different parameters, including  height and weight of students and contact details of parents, were sought from schools. 
This November all schools were instructed to enter updated details of class 1 and 2 students on the EMIS portal. The HMs were advised to cross check the students’ list with the attendance register and submit it to the review official before January 31.

The State Project Director, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Pooja Kulkarni had sent a letter to the Directors of School Education, Matriculation Schools, Elementary Education. It was mentioned in the letter to collect information about schools, including students’ Aadhaar card registration details. Based on this letter, circulars were sent to all headmasters under their respective directorates. The circular said that this year three details in three additional categories, including Aadhaar card and blood group of students, were sought along with photographs of the students.
