Pune: The district administration has decided to take the help of LPG distributors to help citizens who want to enrol for Aadhaar (unique identification number) and plans to set up enrolment centres at LPG agencies.
At present, the services are available at all Maha e-seva kendras (kiosks). About 80% citizens have enrolled for Aadhaar so far. The district authorities have identified around one crore people from across the city and rural parts of the district for enrolment.
"We are identifying offices of some cooking gas agencies to set up the centres. We are looking for sufficient space and power connection so that operators can set up the required machinery without any technical hurdles. People can easily visit these centres at the offices located in their residential area. They are expected to bring proof of address and birth to register," an official said.
The official said that there was no immediate plan to procure more machines, however the administration would seek more machines if required
