The district currently occupies the third position in the State for delivery of services through Akshaya centres. According to District Collector N. Padmakumar, the district has made great strides from it being in the seventh position a few months ago.
Reviewing the performance of the Akshaya centres in December 2014 on Wednesday, Mr. Padmakumar said a total of 35,693 certificates were issued online during the month. The number of certificates issued in the district during the fiscal year stood at 3,40,046. As many as 6,26,527 certificates have been issued through the centres since the launch of the e-District project in March 2013.

The Collector has informed that within a week temporary help-desks will be established at all grama panchayats for a month in an endeavour to popularise the services provided through the Akshaya centres. The kiosks will provide information regarding submitting applications, National Pension Scheme, Aadhaar and e-Aadhaar, PAN card, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and various other services.

The first help desk was launched at the Aryad grama panchayat on Wednesday.
