To become first tribal local body to be ‘fully Aadhaar enrolled’
: Edamalakkudy, the remotest grama panchayat in the State, will soon become the first tribal grama panchayat in the country to be ‘fully Aadhaar enrolled.’

Over 95 per cent of people living in remote settlements in the forest have been enrolled at various Aadhaar camps conducted for the purpose. The latest Aadhaar camps were held in Mulakutharakudy and Societykudy. The panchayat office is at Societykudy.

An official of the Revenue Department said the camps being held at various locations were also aimed at making available basic facilities in the villages through a coordinated effort by various departments. Additional District Magistrate V.R. Mohanan Pillai said the district administration would ensure that all deserving people were given BPL ration cards and basic documents to make them eligible for government schemes.
He said over 95 per cent of people had been given Aadhaar card. Those who remained to be enrolled were children. That would be completed soon, he said.

e-banking facilities will soon be available and Internet connection was made possible by the V-sat received through the national optical fibre network.
