3,363 cases booked for traffic violations

A total of 3,363 cases have been booked by the Transport Department in a special drive conducted in coordination with the police in the district during the last one week.
A total of 1,912 motorists were booked for either driving a two-wheeler without helmet or car without wearing seat belts, 297 were booked for not having ‘proper driving license’ and 72 were booked for drunken driving, according to Deputy Transport Commissioner G. Krishnaiah. In all, 16 teams from the Transport Department conducted the drive along with the police.
A separate drive was also conducted to create awareness and ensure compliance of motorists to get their ‘Aadhaar number’ registered with the Transport Department. Mr. Krishnaiah appealed to all motorists to register their Aadhaar number with the department immediately.
