Work on Poll Roll-Aadhaar Linking Begins

PUDUCHERRY: Door-to-door visits by booth level officers to collect Aadhaar details of voters for linking with the electoral data base began in the UT on Sunday. The exercise is carried out as per instructions of Election Commission of India under the National Electoral Rolls Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP) which aims at making electoral rolls error free.
The house visits began on March 15 and is progressing well, said R Sreedharan, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer. Voters are required to fill a form mentioning their Aadhaar details and handover photocopies of the Aadhaar card and Voter ID, along with mobile number and e-mail ID to the enumerator. The voter can also replace their old photograph in the photo electoral rolls, Sreedharan said.
The collected Aadhaar numbers would then be fed into a database and verified. The elector will receive intimation on mobile numbers.
