Biomatiques eyes govt. orders for Iris scanners
SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT
Surat-based Biomatiques Identification Solutions is eyeing big business for its Iris scanner from government initiatives such as Aadhaar.
The scanner was launched here on Friday.
Besides the use of biometric identification mechanisms by governments, the potential for deploying Iris recognition technology for other routine tasks such as marking attendance by employees, providing access to buildings, at ATMs and on mobile phones makes the company buoyant about its prospects, Biomatiques CEO Tamaal Roy said.
Stating that its Iris scanners had received Standardisation Testing and Quality Certification from the Department of Electronics and IT, Mr. Roy said the company would participate in government tenders through system integrators and VAR. To other user segments, the company would be marketing directly.
