CHENNAI: Election Department officials across the State have collected Aadhaar details of over one crore voters under the National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP) which began on March 1.

Of these one crore voters, the Electors Photo Identity Card data of 13 lakh voters have so far been linked with Aadhaar data.

Responding to media persons at a press meet at the Secretariat, the CEO Sandeep Saxena said that for authentication of electoral rolls, booth level officers of the Election Department had been making door-to-door visits since April 1 and collecting e-mail details and telephone number of one member of each family for future correspondence regarding polls.

The NERPAP process is being done on a ‘Feed, Seed and Link’ basis. In the first place, the information is fed into the data base and next, the information gathered is compared with the existing database. Finally, if both information synchronise, it is being ‘linked’.

The CEO also said that district-wise database on electoral rolls would be made State-wide database to avoid duplication. Special camps would be held on four Sundays - April 12 and 26 and May 10 and 24.
