Aadhaar cards and letters found in an abandoned house at Vaniyambadi on Tuesday | express
VELLORE: Residents of Muslimpur in Vaniyambadi found a bag containing several Aadhaar Cards and Inland letters written to individuals abandoned in a house that has been unoccupied for two years on Tuesday.
The postal department has ordered an enquiry into the incident. The incident came to light when Abdul Malik, the owner of the house, currently living with his family in Chennai, came to his house in Muslimpur on Tuesday after a period of two years. Inside the house, he found a bag containing several Aadhaar cards and letters and alerted Revenue officials.
The Tahsildar of Vaniyambadi, Senthil Kumar recovered the Aadhaar cards and the letters. The Superintendent of Post Offices of Tirupattur, N P Sampath directed the Inspector of Post Offices of Tirupattur and Vaniyambadi to conduct an enquiry.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the cards were mailed from Bangalore in November 2013 to residents of the area, said a postal officials. Disciplinary action will be taken for dereliction of duty against the persons responsible for abandoning the cards.
It was the second such incident after 244 Aadhaar Cards were found in Basheerabad in 2014.
