A day after a bag containing 75 Aadhaar cards was found dumped on the premises of a locked house at Muslimpur, Vaniyambadi, the Postal Department has identified the postman who had failed to deliver the cards.

Officials on Wednesday said they have confirmed that it was the same postman — M. Parandhaman — who had failed to deliver the 244 Aadhaar cards that were found dumped in the garbage at Basheerabad, Vaniyambadi during November 2014 — as being responsible for Tuesday’s findings at Muslimpur.
Subsequent to the earlier incident, the department had suspended Parandhaman, who was then working as a post man in Vaniyambadi post office.

“We had also taken disciplinary action on him. He was on suspension from November 16, 2014 to February 28, 2015. He was also transferred to Pallikonda sub post office and is currently working as postman there,” N.P. Sampath, Superintendent of Post Offices, Tirupattur division said.

The senior officials had conducted an inquiry following Tuesday’s incident in which 75 Aadhaar cards and 31 unregistered postal articles were recovered.

These Aadhaar cards were posted from Bangalore to Vaniyambadi during November 2013. “We confirmed during inquiry that Parandhaman is responsible for this incident. This house has been locked for nearly five years, and in the earlier incident, the cards were found in the garbage,” he added. He said that departmental inquiry was progressing to decide on the action to be taken.

Team Formed
Meanwhile, the department has formed a special team consisting of six members to deliver the articles recovered from the house.

They had prepared an inventory of the articles found.
“Mail overseers will deliver the Aadhaar cards and unregistered postal articles to the respective addresses. They will carry out the work under the supervision of Assistant Superintendent of Posts, Gudiyatham and Inspector of Post Offices,” he added.

He was the same person who had failed to deliver 244 cards at Basheerabad earlier in 2014
