Steps for linking electronic photo identity cards (EPIC) issued by the Election Commission with Aadhaar cards along with the distribution of new EPICs to replace the existing ones in the district tare under way.
The work for issuing new plastic voter cards with colour photos has begun in the Kallyassery, Azhikode, Kannur and Dharmadam Assembly constituencies. The datasheet/application containing information in voters lists required for replacing the existing EPICs had been handed over to booth level officers (BLOs) concerned, an official press release said.
The BLOs will give the datasheet containing application for new EPIC to voters. The voters have to verify the information and return them after making corrections, if any, along with copies of documents to prove the corrections and passport size photo, Aadhaar number, mobile phone number, number of the ward, door number and complete address.
