7902 - Corporation to decide on second spell of ward-wise camps for Aadhaar - The Hindu

After completing a first round of ward-wise camps for the process of enrolling for Aadhaar, the Vellore Corporation will decide on the second spell soon.

During the council meeting on Thursday, a few councillors had pointed out to the difficulty faced by public in going through the procedures for getting Aadhaar cards due to long queues and few staff manning the work.

Replying to the issue, Corporation Commissioner Janaki Raveendran said the civic body was conducting ward-wise camps for residents, who were covered in the Census 2011 in Vellore. Such residents can bring in the acknowledgement slip given during the Census enumeration for getting photographed.
They can come to these camps even if they had lost the slips as their data will be available with the staff.

The first spell of these ward-wise camps at schools was held from April 8 to 30. “We will decide on the second spell of these camps after collecting details of areas where more number of photographs of residents should be taken,” she said. The public will be informed about the camps.

The official pointed out that the residents can bring in the National Population Register (NPR) acknowledgement slips to the ward-wise camps. “This was held for residents of newly added areas, such as town panchayats, as they will face difficulty in coming to the city to get the work done,” she added.
Residents, who were not covered during Census 2011 enumeration or had come from outside the district, can approach the permanent NPR centres at the Corporation zonal offices. New application forms were issued and collected at these centres.

On receiving applications, the data will entered, following which photographs will be taken.
