HYDERABAD: Amidst the uncertainty surrounding the linking of Aadhaar numbers to various government schemes and services in the light of the Supreme Court's views on it, the TDP government is all set to embark on yet another exercise to go ahead with such a linkage albeit under a new name.

Termed as the Resident Data policy, it has been prepared by the IT department which has in its possession the Aadhaar data of all citizens of the residuary state in its AP State Resident Data Hub (APSRDH). Data from Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and beneficiary basic data from all departments will be stored in SRDH. "The Resident Data policy has been circulated to all relevant departments for discussion and suggestions. It will be later placed before the state cabinet for approval," sources told TOI.

Under the policy, 21 schemes and services will be linked to Aadhaar. These include civil supplies, Arogyasri, rural development department pensions, NREGS, SHG books and records, housing, LPG, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, power discoms, micro irrigation, civil registration system-unified births and deaths registration, RTA, revenue, municipal property tax, social welfare (post metric, pre-metric, hostels), commercial tax, animal husbandry, Mee seva and CMO (grievances, relief funds, disaster management, loan wavier).

Currently, of the 4.8 crore population in AP, nearly 98% have Aadhaar numbers. In view of the SC ruling which said no government scheme or service should be linked to Aadhaar number, the state says that it will not insist on citizens possessing the same.
