BHIMAVARAM: Andhra Pradesh occupies the first place in the country in regard to Aadhaar-voter identity card linkage. Steps have been taken to achieve 100 per cent target by the end of May 31, according to Chief Election Officer (CEO) Bhanwarlal.
Reviewing the progress of Aadhaar-linkage with voter identity card in the district here Saturday, he said fake votes and double votes could be avoided with the linkage.
Speaking to reporters here Saturday, he said those who have crossed 18 years of age are eligible to register their names in the voter list.
CEO Bhanwarlal said 90 per cent of Aadhaar linkage with voter identity card was completed in Andhra Pradesh.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) completed the process to conduct MLC elections from local bodies in the month of June in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states. Voters’ list for MLC elections was posted on the website.
Joint Collector P Koteswara Rao, additional joint collector Shariff, revenue divisional officer D Pushapa Mani and election officials of 15 Assembly constituencies were present.
