CHANDIGARH: To bring in transparency and maintain data and proper records of each houses of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB), the board has decided to create a database of each property. For this, authority has asked all of its occupants to submit their UID/aadhaar numbers with the Chandigarh administration.
The allottees are advised to submit their UID/aadhaar numbers either to the registered welfare association of their area or through the E-Sampark center, so that same is provided by the associations to the CHB office within a month.
Significantly, allottees of the all the categories, whether under rehabilitation schemes or under general housing schemes in the prescribed performa available with the various registered welfare association and e-sampark centers. Besides allottees, the board has also asked the details of transferees and his or her dependent family members in database under various housing schemes of the board.

Currently, there are around 48,000 housing units of CHB throughout the city and there is a lot of ambiguity as far as maintenance of records of these houses is concerned. Since most of the properties are standing on power of attorney and not transferred to the occupants, things are lying in a haphazard manner in the record.
"We have given the opportunity to the occupants so that data of their respective properties could be maintained properly and for this purpose they won't be harassed. And it for their own convenience," said an official of the CHB.
