Inaugurating the Education Management Information System (EMIS) on Saturday in Pune, State Education Minister Vinod Tawde promised that within three months, all data pertaining to students, as well as the tracking of teachers and even performance of an academic institution, will be available online.

The new system, developed by the National Informatics Centre, whose inauguration took place at the Maharashtra State Council of Education Research and Training campus, is a detailed tracking system in which data of all schools across Maharashtra will be available at the click of a button.

“The new system will have all details such as total number of schools, whether they are aided or unaided, the number of seats available, infrastructure and grants. In terms of teachers, we will track their appointments, attendance, retirement, pension, academic improvement and so on. However, it is in case of students that the system will come in most handy as it will have the details of their admission, which would be linked to their Aadhaar card, attendance, drop out status and academic performance. Unlike today, when the same student is shown in multiple schools, since Aadhaar card will be linked, this will become impossible. Also if a student is weak, it will enable us to enroll such students in skill and academic improvement programmes besides tracking such students,” said Tawde.
