With just a month left for linking Aadhaar numbers with voter ID cards, Pune district has received only 2.33 lakh applications and have linked Rs 93,000 names, according to data. A special drive on Sunday helped to increase these numbers.
The drive was conducted at all electoral booths by Booth Level Officers (BLOs). Camps were held at BLO offices as well as at the Council hall.
“The final figures after the special drive are yet to be collated”, said deputy election officer Samiksha Chandrakar Gokule.

The Election Commission of India had launched the National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme across the country from March, aiming for an error-free and authentic electoral roll. The programme links EPIC data of electors with Aadhaar data of UIDAI.
