STAFF REPORTER

As many as 825 plastic Aadhaar cards had been issued to the people so far in various parts of the district.
This was made possible through e-governance service centres functioning at eight taluk offices, said Collector M. Ravikumar here on Wednesday.
The services were made operational by Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation.
The public should bring the acknowledgement issued at biometric registration centres to collect the plastic Aadhaar cards.
Based on the serial number in the acknowledgement, plastic card would be issued on payment of Rs. 40.
Those having non-plastic Aadhaar cards could also apply for plastic cards on payment of Rs. 30.
These service centres would remain functional from 9.45 a.m. to 5.45 p.m. on all days except Sundays and government holidays. The details of voter identity card, PAN card, BPL card, driving licence and educational certificates could be registered in online storage facility under e-locker system, which would be introduced soon.
All these data would be linked with Aadhaar card, the Collector said.
Once this facility came into existence, people need not carry physical documents and Aadhaar cards with unique identity numbers would be sufficient for them, he added.
