Residents who have recorded their biometric data for Aadhaar cards can obtain the same from e-service centres run by the Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation in the district. Collector K.S. Palanisamy, in a press release, said plastic Aadhaar cards will be issued through the service centres. Those desiring to get the same can provide the 14-digit registration number provided in the acknowledgement slips issued on recording to their biometric data and obtain the card. They will have to pay a fee of Rs. 40. Those who have already obtained Aadhaar numbers can get the plastic cards on payment of Rs. 30 at these centres. The e-service centres are functioning at all the 11 taluks in the district and are open from 9.45 a.m. to 5.45 p.m. on all working days, he said.
CLEANING CAMPAIGN
A mass cleaning campaign to eradicate mosquito breeding sources have been taken up across the district, Collector K.S. Palanisamy has said. Mr. Palanisamy, in a press release issued after visiting Koppu village where incidence of fever was reported recently, said people should not ignore bouts of fever and immediately approach the government hospitals for treatment. Students with fever should not be sent to schools for a week. He urged residents to keep their water storing containers covered. Water should not be stored in the containers for long and they should be regularly cleaned using bleaching powder, he said. Health workers should constantly monitor the situation and supply nilavembu kashayam to persons suffering from fever, he said.
GOODIES DISTRIBUTED
About 1,450 farmers of Lalgudi area were provided welfare assistance estimated at Rs. 45.19 lakh under the Farmers Protection Scheme on Saturday. District Collector K.S. Palanisamy, who distributed the assistance, said welfare assistance worth Rs.4.99 crore had been provided to 9,249 beneficiaries under the scheme in the district in 2014-15. About 9,172 persons have been extended assistance so far during the current year.
