GURGAON: With just one week left for the Haryana government's scheme of Aadhaar-linked biometric attendance system to be adopted across all government departments in the state, it appears the scheme's implementation is set to miss August 1 deadline.
In Gurgaon, most of the government departments are yet to get the facility despite having submitted all relevant details of the employees needed for the project. Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar launched the Aadhaar-enabled biometric attendance system in all offices of the state government in Panchkula on May 2 and August 1 was set as the deadline to implement the scheme.
When TOI contacted government departments regarding the implementation of the project, most of them claimed that they were yet to receive the fingerprint scanners and other devices. HUDA administrator said there was no information on when all devices needed to get the system started would arrive.
DHBVN general manager Sanjeev Chopra told TOI that though the devices have been set up in some of the discom's offices in the state, they are yet to reach Gurgaon. In our line of work, officials are needed to be in the field round the clock and having such a system may not be practical for employees at all levels," he said.
Deputy commissioner T L Satyaprakash, however, told TOI that the system was already in place in his office. "The biometric attendance system is already in place in my office and is in use. It should be implemented in all government offices by August 1," he said.
