HYDERABAD: The AP government is learnt to be making arrangements to hold a survey, on the lines of the ‘Intensive Household Survey’ in Telangana last year, to record the socio-economic profile of each family in the state.
The government hopes to weed out bogus beneficiaries of welfare schemes using the survey data.
Another survey is also being planned for analysing the performance of women’s self-help groups across the State.
The State government is understood to have asked all the departments to make arrangements to conduct a massive survey and integrate the details of each resident in the State with Aadhaar data.
Through the survey, a unique identification number to each individual residing in the State would be assigned so as to maintain the State Resident Data Hub (SRDH) as a repository of the Aadhaar data of individuals. This will be in tune with the recently announced “AP Policy on Unique Identification of Residents”.
Sources said modalities of the survey would be finalised very soon. Meanwhile, the survey on women’s self-help groups is expected to come up with measures that are to be taken to financially empower these groups further.
“A detailed analysis of the functioning of all groups will be conducted to determine the dormant and dysfunctional groups and identify measures to strengthen their capacity for income generation,” the State government said after a meeting of the Cabinet Sub-committee on Women Empowerment at secretariat here on Tuesday.
Dormant Dwcra Groups to be Revived
Finance Minister Y Ramakrishnudu informed that more than Rs 4,000 cr had been disbursed to more than 80 lakh women’s self-help groups as investment capital fund and for compensating the interest paid towards the loans taken by them. A massive exercise is being undertaken to revive the dormant DWCRA groups and to strengthen the capacity of the groups to access credit, technology and markets to expand income generation opportunities. “A study will be conducted and a proposal will be placed before the GOM for strengthening the Srinidhi Bank, including converting it into a full-fledged bank,” he said.
