HYDERABAD: Ahead of the 69th Independence Day, four persons including a Bangladeshi migrant to Pakistan, suspected to be having close links with banned terror outfit Harkat-ul-Jihadi Al-Islami (HUJI), were arrested by the Hyderabad police on Friday.
It is however not known whether they were planning to carryout a terror strike in the city, though police did not rule out the possibility. Besides, two Hyderabadi agents Mohammed Masood Khan and Sohail Parvez Khan were also arrested, while another agent Noor is absconding.
The arrested are -- Mohammed Nasir, a Bangladeshi migrant to Pakistan and three others, Joynal Abedin and Faizal Mohamoud, both from Bangladesh and one Zia Ur Rahman of Myanmar.
Surprisingly, the illegal immigrants managed to obtain passports, voter ID card and Aadhaar card using fake addresses. Police constables attached to the Special Branch are likely to face action as they are the ones who conducted verification which enabled them obtain passports.
In the guise of running a xerox shop in Chanchalguda, 52-year old Mohammed Masood Khan has been arranging voter ID cards, Aadhaar, Indian Passports etc to immigrants from Bangladesh and Myanmar on bogus addresses and facilitated travel of at least 15 people abroad.
On Thursday, when Hyderabad Police raided his shop, they cracked the network.
Mohammed Nasir (34), a relative of banned Terrorist outfit HUJI leader Abdul Jabbar, is a Bangladeshi who migrated to Paksitan. He has been living in India illegally since 2010 and in Hyderabad since March 2015. According to investigators, it was Abdul Jabbar who indoctrinated Nasir with Jihadi ideology and sent him to India.
“On instructions from Abdul Jabbar, Nasir has received Dilsukhnagar twin bomb blast accused Zia Ur Rahman alias Waqar in West Bengal in January 2014 and helped him cross over to Bangladesh. We are still finding out their intentions of illegal stay in the city. They are already in possession of several fake ID proofs in their names,” said T Prabhakar Rao, joint commissioner of Police, Central Crime Station, at a press conference.
Nasir, Joynal Abedin, Faizal Mohamoud and Zia Ur Rahman of Myanmar to travel to Saudi Arabia. Police also arrested Mohammed Masood Khan and one Balapur based Sohail Parvez Khan, both of whom are local agents in Hyderabad.
“Nasir has traveled to Haryana, UP and Bihar before coming to Hyderabad. Their suspected terror activities are not ruled out. If he has played any role in Dilsukhnagar blasts too has to be established,” said Rao.
Nasir, along with wife, was staying at Jalpally in Cyberabad. During his stay in the city, Nasir received several illegal immigrants of Bangladesh and Myanmar, and arranged their stay at Masood’s residence as tenants. Showing Masood’s address, passports and other ID cards were arranged for these illegal immigrants.
Four Indian passports, one Bangladeshi passport, nine cell phones with SIM cards, Jehadi literature, around 100 ID proofs like Voted ID, Aadhaar cards, birth certificates, passport delivery envelopes, affidavits etc were seized from them.
